School Eye Screening Programme
Help school children access eye screening and vision support through Sri Sai Lions Netralaya's community programme.
The programme takes eye checks to schools and helps connect children who need further care with appropriate support.
A trained outreach team screens children between 6 and 15 years at their schools.
Screening can help identify children who may need an eye examination or treatment.
Children who need vision correction may receive spectacles through the programme.

While SSLN's community outreach has traditionally focused on adults and older people, childhood blindness also needs attention. The School Eye Screening Program is a tailored initiative for school-going children, delivered by trained personnel using a mobile eye-screening van equipped with modern instruments.
Children aged 6 to 15 are screened at their schools and receive care for identified eye problems. The programme has been running in and around Patna for about 10 years. Common causes of visual impairment include refractive error, amblyopia (lazy eye) and congenital cataract.
Around 15 to 18 children in every 100 are diagnosed with refractive error in the region. SSLN provides CR-39 spectacles that are lightweight, unbreakable and scratch-resistant. The information provided lists an approximate cost of INR 750 per pair; please confirm the current cost with the hospital.
Every child should have the chance to learn with clear vision.
